welcome! 9th grade visual arts is a semester-long course in which we will focus on building and refining your drawing skills, your working knowledge of the elements and principles of design, your ability to articulate thoughts about art (art criticism), and your familiarity with artists and art movements in the ‘real’ Art World (art history).
You will maintain a developmental workbook in which you will complete exercises that support major studio projects. The workbook will also be used for written analyses of artworks from different cultures and time periods, and personal reflections on your work and the work of others.
We will complete a minimum of two units this semester.
class expectations: Arrive to class on time: class starts 5 minutes after passing time. Participate in class discussions. Use class time wisely: respect deadlines Create independently. Work diligently. Use materials properly. Show respect for yourself, your peers and the teacher. Clean up the workspace: no one leaves until the room is picked up.
